Luevano Blasts Out Trazancos On Telefutura
SAT June 18, JAY DUVAL - Steven Luevano looked extremely sharp tonight as he took on Genaro Trazancos in an exciting featherweight bout live from the Dodge Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona on tonight’s 'Solo Boxeo' card live on Telefutura.
Luevano kept the action going well in the first three rounds landing hard, accurate shots on Trazancos off of his jab, dropping Trazancos at the beginning of the third with a right to the jaw from his southpaw stance and would spend the remainder of the round battering Trazancos around the ring.
Round four would see the game but apparently overmatched Trazancos try to find ground with Luevano, but to no avail as Luevano’s right hooks couldn’t miss. This would be a prelude to things to come as Luevano would drop Trazancos one final time at 1:40 of the fifth round with a straight left hand right on the button. Trazancos would rise at the count of nine, but referee Bobby Ferrera wisely called a halt to the bout at 1:40 of the round.
With the win Luevano, 126 of La Puente, California raises his unbeaten record to 28-0 with 14 KO’s, and grabs a WBC interim title. Trazancos, 126 of Ft Myers, Florida drops to 21-7-1.
Other action on tonight’s under card included welterweight Juan Buendia of Durango Mexico knocking out Francisco Rincon of Coahulia, Mexico at 1:54 of the third round in what was a decent slugfest while it lasted.
Also, lightweight Michael Pare of Windsor, Canada stopped Cesar Almedo of Salt Lake City, Utah when Almedo refused to come out for the third round.
In other action, Arturo Ortega of Phoenix, Arizona stopped Cardyl Finley of Houston, Texas at 1:01 of round one in a light heavyweight blowout.
