Interview with MARCO ANTONIO BARRERA

"The fans can expect the Marco Antonio Barrera they are used to seeing fight"

by Ricardo Lois
The King of the Featherweights, Marco Antonio Barrera (52-3) duels the King of Super bantamweights, Manny Pacquiao (37-2-1) this Saturday night at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Barrera has been impressive to say the least since his jump to the 126-lb division with wins over Naseem Hamed, Eric Morales, Kevin Kelly and Johnny Tapia. He looks to add another big name fighter to his list when he battles Pacquiao for the Ring featherweight championship. Marco took some time, while in final preparations for the bout, to give TalkingBoxing an exclusive pre-fight interview. Fans of the Baby Faced Assassin will be interested to read comments regarding his future beyond the Pacquiao encounter. Click below to read the short, but sweet interview with one of the greatest featherweights of all-time!

King of the Featherweights, Marco Antonio Barrera

TalkingBoxing: Marco thanks for taking time from your final preparations to speak with me. How has your training for the bout with Manny Paquiao been?

Marco Antonio Barrera: Fine, I have given one hundred percent. I was training in Big Bear, but had to leave due to the natural disaster up there. I am in San Antonio now and everyone has treated me very good here.

TalkingBoxing: In regards to the change of camp from Big Bear down to San Antonio, do you think it will affect you in a negative way?

Marco Antonio Barrera: No, I do not think so. I did most of my really hard training up in Big Bear and there is really only one week left until the fight. I do no think the change in camp will have any effect.

TalkingBoxing: Since you are fighting Paquiao, who is coming up in weight, how have you prepared for him, do you look to box or be a bit more aggressive?

Marco Antonio Barrera: He is really not smaller; I look for him to be at a heavier weight than me on the night of the fight. I have been watching videos of his fights. The fans can expect the Marco Antonio Barrera they are used to seeing fight.

TalkingBoxing: Most boxers do not like to look ahead, past their current opponent. Saying that, could you give us any insight into what you will be pursuing after the Paquiao fight? Will you look for a third bout with Erik Morales?

Marco Antonio Barrera: Well, I really don't like speaking about anything beyond the fight at hand. After the fight, I will clarify my plans for the future.

TalkingBoxing: You have been boxing for quite a while and are a definite veteran of the boxing world. How may fights do you have left?

Marco Antonio Barrera: I am much disciplined and have taken very good care of my body. I have three or four more years left in this sport.

TalkingBoxing would like to thank Marco Antonio Barrera for taking the time out of his busy day to talk with us. We wish him the best of luck against Manny Pacquaio this Saturday at the Alamodome.
