Interview with CHAD DAWSON
"one of my goals is to beat Jermain Taylor"

    Coming off another KO win on August 1st over Brett Lally (his 9th KO in 13 fights), "Bad" Chad Dawson is becoming known for his KO power, but Dawson says he doesn't "go into fights looking for the knockout." "I can do it all, I can box, I can punch." And let me tell you, that was an accurate self portrayal of himself. CES Boxing landed a gem when they signed this young man. TalkingBoxing caught up with Chad before an upcoming August fight.

Julius Stecker: How is training going right now?

Chad Dawson: Good, just winding down to fight night

Julius Stecker: What do you know about your next opponent

Chad Dawson: Not much, they just got him couple of days ago, all I know is he is veteran with a good record

Julius Stecker: How many times do you plan on fighting this year?

Chad Dawson: Maybe 4-5 times

Julius Stecker: Right now you are known for your punching power, but how would you describe your fighting style?

Chad Dawson: I can do it all, I can box, I can punch, but I don't go into fights looking for the knockout, it just let the fight play out, if a knockout comes that is great if not that is great too.

Julius Stecker: You are in the same division as Jermain Taylor do you see yourself fighting him in the future?

Chad Dawson: Yes, that is one of my goals, to beat Jermain Taylor

Julius Stecker: What is your natural fighting weight right now?

Chad Dawson: 160

Julius Stecker: How tall are you?

Chad Dawson: 6'3"

Julius Stecker: Though it may seem far away when do you think you will be ready for a title shot?

Chad Dawson: I can't really say, I just want to keep learning and maturing with every fight

Julius Stecker: Who are your favorite fighters to watch and do you try to use any of there elements in your style?

Chad Dawson: I like Zab Judah, he is a good boxer, but I take a little from everybody, I am a complete fighter

Julius Stecker: And just asking, where did you get the nickname "Bad" from?

Chad Dawson: I have had it for a long time, since I was 12, it was given to me by "Ice Man" John Scully (interview) and I have had it ever since

Julius Stecker: What can we expect from "Bad" Chad Dawson within the next few years?

Chad Dawson: I want to keeps fighting, and I am going to be a world champion in a few years
