Ellis, who is ranked in the Top 10 in every major organization, was named the NABO "Fighter of the Month" for May 2003.

 Kenny Ellis

Julius Stecker: How is everything going and when will your next fight be?

Kenny Ellis: Never better, everything is going great, I will be defending my NABO Middleweight crown August 29th on ESPN2.

Julius Stecker: You have been on a roll as of late, 4 fights in 2003, 4 wins and 3 KO's and you picked up the NABO crown in the process but what are looking for next?

Kenny Ellis: Well to be the best you have to beat the best, and I looking fight the best guys in the division right now, I just want to fight the best out there

Julius Stecker: With Harry Simon's career in jeporady, and you being the #4 contender for the WBO crown do you feel a title shot is in your future?

Kenny Ellis: Very much so, I have to do is take care of business in the ring, keep my nose clean and I think that everything will happen.

Julius Stecker: You are in a very deep division, you have guys like Joppy, Hopkins, and Jermain Taylor, would you like to fight these guys?

Kenny Ellis: I will fight all or any them if the money is right, I think I have the style to beat all of those guys.

Julius Stecker: How would you describe your fight style?

Kenny Ellis: A Boxer Puncher, but going back to your last question, with a straight face I can tell you that no middleweight can outbox Kenny Ellis when I am 100 percent, not one middleweight in the world.

Julius Stecker: How does have a guy like experience guy like Greg Haugen in your corner?

Kenny Ellis: He is very smart, and he is a former world champion so his knowledge and experience helps tremendously, but overall I have a mean team, with a great nutritionist and great weight coach, which helps keep me at my best.

Julius Stecker: You have been in the ring with some world class opposition, Bronco McKart, Fernando Zuniga, and Roshi Wells, which was a controversial decision, but to you who was your toughest opponent?

Kenny Ellis: I was robbed in the Wells fight, I won that fight but it is boxing you know what I mean, but I would say my toughest opponent was Candy Robertson, who will be fight that Olijade kid this week, not many people know about him but he hit me harder then I have been hit that is why I had to get him out of there when I did, also Zuniga hit hard to, that is why I boxed and outslicked him.

Julius Stecker: You are a veteran of 13 years with an excellent record don't you think it is about time someone gave you a title shot?

Kenny Ellis: Yeah I have earned my shot, but in boxing nothing is given to you, so when not if, when I get the oppurtunity I will be ready.

Julius Stecker: What do you plan to do when your career is over?

Kenny Ellis: That is good question, but I had to say now I would say something around the sport of boxing, I have been around the sport since I was 6 years old, so I would say something around boxing.

Julius Stecker: Lastly how would you like to be remembered as a fighter?

Kenny Ellis: Another good question, but I would say a very slick fighter and a good man.

TalkingBoxing.com would like to thank Kenny Ellis for taking time out of his busy schedule to talk with us and we will be rooting for a big win on August 29th.
