147-lb prospect, Rico Tan
Luke Callahan: How is training going?
Rico Tan: Training is coming along great. I'm in great shape now and only a couple pounds away from the welterweight limit. I feel really strong.
Luke Callahan: Are you doing anything different for this fight as far as sparring etc.?
Rico Tan: I've been sparring with southpaws and getting use to seeing those punches come from different angles. We've brought in a southpaw from the States to help me get ready for this fight.
Luke Callahan: What weight will this fight be at?
Rico Tan: I'll be fighting at 147lbs. I feel very strong and fast at that weight.
Luke Callahan: What do you know about Brooke Wellby?
Rico Tan: I know that Wellby is a rangy southpaw with lots of experience. I'm gonna put the pressure on him from the opening bell and then look for the knockout.
Luke Callahan: What will the Canadian Welterweight Championship mean to you?
Rico Tan: Winning the Canadian title will mean alot for me, because I've trained and worked so hard for this fight and it will all pay off. It will even mean more because I'm fighting in front of my home town, so I won't want to disappoint my fans.
Luke Callahan: What's your next step after this fight?
Rico Tan: Don't know what comes after this fight. Right now all I'm thinking about is November 15th and becoming the Canadian welterweight champ.
Luke Callahan: You had two early draws with Leon Gilkes and since then he is retired, is there any anger that you wont be able to fight him a third time?
Rico Tan: Those 2 draws are the past. I have a bright future and only look forward to the future. Everything else I've put behind me. I try to keep a positive outlook on life all the time.
Luke Callahan: In your young career, you have already fought and won 4 minor titles. When do you think you will be ready to make a run at a major title?
Rico Tan: I just need to keep learning and improving, and only time will tell. I'll leave that up to my manager. I just wanna get in the ring and knock dudes out. Thats what I'm about.
Luke Callahan: Any thing you would like to add in closing?
Rico Tan: I just want to thank everyone for all the support and thank God for blessing me with all this talent. Fans come out on November 15 and make alot of noise. Check out www.RicoTan.com for all the lastest news and info.
