8/20 - Boxing is perhaps the last sport people look to for role models, but it's also perhaps the sport with the most role models involved in it. WBO Heavyweight Champion Lamon Brewster, 30-2, is one of those class acts. Most will remember the heart and the passion he showed when he out willed Wladimir Klitchsko in a WBO title fight this past April, a fight of which he was farbehind on the cards when he scored a shocking 5th round TKO victory. Brewster is looking for that performance to be a springboard for bigger and brighter things, as well as an example for today's youth on how a professional athlete should conduct their business.
TalkingBoxing.com caught up with Brewster to get his take on his upcoming September 4th Title defense against Kali Meehan (29-1) featured on Showtime at the Mandalay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. [Workout Quotes]
Brewster is expecting a tough fight from Meehan, he explained, "He is a tough guy; I am looking at this fight to be the toughest fight of my career. I am going to be patient and pick my spots."
Lamon who is known for his big punch (27 KO Victories) and his huge heart, is looking at this fight as a springboard to a possible match-up against the other Klitchsko, WBC champion Vitali.
"That is the fight I wanted right after I beat Wladimir, said Brewster, "that would be the biggest fight in the heavyweight division right now. I definitely would like that fight."

Boxing often times takes pot shots from mainstream media talking heads, and Brewster wants put a positive spin on boxing in general. He wants to be somewhat of an ambassador for the sport.
"Expect a lot more from Lamon Brewster, I am going to try to be a role model for the kids. I want to help bring the glory back to this sport. I want to bring it back to when it was a gentleman's sport. I will fight anybody if the money is right, but I will shake hands with all my opponents. And as far the Meehan fight goes, this fight will be a chess match, and I will be looking for a checkmate."
If he can get past Meehan on September 4th, he will have a lot of opportunities to put his name on the heavyweight map.
