11/19 - If you haven’t checked out cruiserweight contender
Chad Van Sickle’s training regimen, I would advise you go to
halquistproductions.com where they have a brief movie featuring his workout. It looks more like the training regimen of Jerry Rice, then a successful professional prizefighter. While many boxers go with the traditional or “old school” method of just plain
old roadwork and sparring. Van Sickle uses plyometrics, wind sprints, and advanced training techniques to get the job done.
So far so good for Van Sickle, he is 18-0, with 10 knockouts and he has provided his fans ultimate excitement. Talkingboxing.com caught up with the rising
cruiserweight contender to get his take on the
upcoming Dec 4th, Battle at the Boat in Tacoma,
Washington, at the Emerald Queen Casino.
Van Sickle battles the tough and respected Gary Gomez (12-4). Van
Sickle was extremely focused and in high spirits.
“Gary Gomez is tough, but I am ready for him. I am
ready to step up and fight for a title. I want to
fight guys like Felix Cora, and Dale Brown,” said Van
Sickle.
Chad is coming off an impressive performance
against Luke Munsen back in July, and he is looking to
make things happen in the near future.
Van Sickle who sits comfortably at 200 pounds advised
us that when he is done at Cruiserweight and would be
willing to get in there with the big boys. “It really
doesn’t matter to me, I will fight at Cruiserweight
and I will fight at Heavyweight.”
As mentioned previous, Van Sickle is far from “Old
School.” He uses advanced sprints, explosive weight
lifting, and wind sprints to get ready for fights.
And according to him, the exercises work fantastic.
“In old school boxing, guys will wake up and run 5 or
6 miles. Then they will spar and then they will be
done. I do things like plyometrics, and I feel it
makes me a better fighter.”
Van Sickle will be looking to display his explosive
style on Dec 4th. And in his words, “This fight
against Gary Gomez will be good, Felix Cora couldn’t
knock him out. So I am going to knock him out.”
Brian Halquist’s Battle at the Boat events has never
disappointed, and Van Sickle plans on continuing the
trend of excellent prize fighting in the state of
Washington.
