"I am looking to get a victory and to have a good showing against a tough fighter"

1/31 - Undefeated jr. welterweight
David Diaz has been doing big things for quite a while now and it is about time someone is taking notice.
On February 4th, at the Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Mashantucket CT, he finally gets a chance to show fight fans what he can do on a bigger stage. On that evening he will be taking on the hard hitting young
prospect Kendall Holt in a 'ShoBox' main event, which promises to be an excellent match-up between two exciting young fighters.
TalkingBoxing.com caught up with the exciting Diaz to get his feelings about the upcoming fight.
“I really haven’t seen much of Kendall Holt. I hear
he is a tough fighter, who has knockout power. I plan
on showing my boxing skills, and we will see how he
works in the later rounds,” said Diaz.
Diaz is coming off a scintillating performance against
Jamie Rangel, in a fight that still has Chicago fight
fans in an uproar. And before that he bested the
respected Emanuel Augustus and also former world
champion Ener Julio. Now if he is to pass this next
test against Holt, he will be looking at a world title
shot at 135 or 140.
“I see myself fighting at either Lightweight, or Jr.
Welterweight. I want to test my skills against the
best fighters. The Floyd Mayweather’s, the Miguel
Cotto’s, or anybody else out there,” explained Diaz.
While the fight world can’t get enough of TV sensation
Juan Diaz, the other Diaz, and no not Julio, has been
making a name for himself in the boxing underground.
Those people who were in attendance for his fights
against Augustus and Rangel know what I am talking
about.
In some ways it is similar to an underground
battle rap legend. There is a buzz about him, but
people want to see how the album turns out. That is
David Diaz, he is that guy people hear can fight with
the best, now they want to see it.
Kendall Holt will not be a pushover though. He is a
young big power puncher, who will be looking to make a
statement as well. But Diaz pledges to bring his “A”
game Feb 4th, and he promises not to disappoint his
fans.
“I plan on keeping my cool, and to stay in control. I
am looking to get a victory and to have a good showing
against a tough fighter.”
