TalkingBoxing with DAVID ESTRADA

by Julius Stecker
4/18 - Just a few short days away from his biggest fight to date, welterweight contender David Estrada caught up with TalkingBoxing.com for a brief interview before his ESPN PPV televised bout on April 23rd against Shane Mosley.

DAVID ESTRADA

TalkingBoxing: David how does it feel to get this tremendous opportunity?

David Estrada: It feels good to have the opportunity fight Shane Mosley.

TalkingBoxing: A lot has been made of Shane moving down in weight and him not coming in a 100% focused, but what Shane Mosley are you expecting?

David Estrada: I think, and I know he will be the very best he can possibly be. He has lost 4 fights in a row, so he better be at his best.

TalkingBoxing: Is there anything different that you did in preparing for this fight?

David Estrada: No nothing really, to me this is just another fight.

TalkingBoxing: What is your strategy?

David Estrada: I am going to put pressure on him.

TalkingBoxing: Have you watched tapes like the Wilfredo Rivera fight against him, and other pressure style fighters against him?

David Estrada: Yeah I have seen a few tapes.

TalkingBoxing: Well let’s talk odds, Vegas has you as a significant underdog. But a lot of people in and around boxing like your chances. In fact one of your old opponents, Ishe Smith, states you will win this fight, how does that make you feel?

David Estrada: It really doesn’t matter or mean anything. But it is good to get respect from my peers.

TalkingBoxing: If you do win, do you want to fight the winner of Antonio Margarito-Kermit Cintron of Zab Judah?

David Estrada: I would definitely like to fight any of those guys.

TalkingBoxing: You are a Chicago guy, but you have been in training in Miami for quite a while, how do you like it down there as opposed to training in Chicago?

David Estrada: I like it a lot down here…I like running outside on grass in shorts and in a T-Shirt. Instead of running outside in the f****** cold weather and on concrete, I bet it is cold up there right now. (Laughing)

TalkingBoxing: It has been OK, but it isn’t Miami (Laughing)..........Well in closing this short interview, what can the boxing world expect from you on April 23rd?

David Estrada: Expect me to shock the world and beat Shane Mosley. And after that expect me to get a few belts around my waist in the future.
