Talking Boxing with "MARVELOUS" SHAY MOBLEY
"Winning this fight is my way of saying thanks to Team ONE IN A MILLION"

by Julius Stecker
1/12 - One in a Million middleweight prospect Shay Mobley, 7-4-1, gets a chance to shine at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago this Friday. The bout will be the co-feature on Telefutura's 'Solo Boxeo De Miller' and will be against prospect, Miguel Hernandez, a fighter Shay respects. "He [Miguel] is a good fighter. You know Miguel and I are friends," said the 27-year old Mobley fighting out of Markham, IL. "This is business not personal. I've had a couple of Internet reporters call me and try to get me to say something negative about him. But it is not that kind of fight." This past June, Shay lost a televised fight with David Estrada, but is running with this opportunity calling it a "new day". Since then, Shay put up a great battle versus Jesus Gonzales and in November scored a decision win over John Vaughan. "People have to realize that records don't make you an underdog. And as for skills, he and I are on the same level. So that's what will make it a great fight."

SHAY MOBLEY - RISING STAR

TalkingBoxing.com: How is training going for the Jan.14 fight?

Shay Mobley: It's going well. I feel real good. I've been getting some great sparring in with my stable mates Michael Walker, Montell Griffith and Greg Jones.

TalkingBoxing.com: What is your opinion of Miguel Hernandez?

Shay Mobley: He is a good fighter. You know Miguel and I are friends. This is business not personal. I've had a couple of Internet reporters to call me and try to get me to say something negative about him. But it is not that kind of fight. Octavius [referring to the C.E.O. of ONE IN A MILLION INC.] best described it. He said you would build this as a "GENTLEMEN'S FIGHT".

TalkingBoxing.com: Tell me what you think about this fight, being a local head to head match-up against Miguel "Macho" Hernandez?

Shay Mobley: I think it is great for the city of Chicago. Because me and Miguel get an opportunity to showcase to the world, what Chicago has to offer and I would like to thank Octavius and Dominic for this opportunity.

TalkingBoxing.com: What do you have to say to people who think you are the underdog going into this fight?

Shay Mobley: [Laughing] Absolutely Nothing. People might try to go off of my last televise fight with David Estrada. But this is a new day. I just had to rededicate myself. But January 14th will tell who the underdog is. (Julius) people have to realize that records don't make you an underdog. And as for skills he and I are on the same level. So that's what will make it a great fight.

TalkingBoxing.com: Do you think you are the stronger fighter in this fight?

Shay Mobley: Definitely. And in more than one way.

TalkingBoxing.com: Is there any thing you think you can capitalize on in this fight?

Shay Mobley: Yes, [Julius] Just showing up on January 14th and doing what I know I have to do.

TalkingBoxing.com: Tell us about One In A Million Inc. and what it has done for you as a fighter?

Shay Mobley: Where do I start. [Pausing] My career didn't take off until I got with this team. Even fights I know I should have won, they never gave up on me. I got side tracked but that's all behind me now. So that's why this fight is so important to me. Winning this fight is my way of saying thanks to Team ONE IN A MILLION.

TalkingBoxing.com: Any predictions on Jan 14th?

Shay Mobley: IT'S GOING DOWN. Thanks Julius! "Marvelous" Shay Mobley
