Sheika Ready for WBC Title Shot
WED August 31, JULIUS STECKER - Having given fight fans their share of memories over the last few years, super middleweight contender Omar Sheika has fought for world titles and gave fight fans an excellent two fight series with perennial contender Scott Pemberton.

Sheika, 26-7, recently engaged in a tough scrap with IBF super middleweight champion, Jeff Lacy last December in clearly Lacy's toughest fight of his career to date, with Sheika losing a close but unanimous decision.

Now Sheika gets yet another chance at a world title this coming Saturday, September 3rd when he takes on WBC champion, Marcus Beyer, 32-2, in Berlin, Germany, in what promises to be an entertaining match-up. TalkingBoxing.com caught up with the dynamic Sheika to get his take on another shot at a world title.

“I am going in there to knock him out. I don’t think he has seen anybody with my style, so he will be in trouble,” explained the seasoned veteran Sheika.

Sheika's explosive style, has earned him accolades among hard-core fight fans as every time out, expect an explosion of a fight. Whether it's delivering shots, or him taking them, Sheika is always game.

Sheika was pleased with his most recent effort against Lacy, but was less then thrilled with the decision.

“Everybody who comes up to me tells me I won that fight...Listen, I think it was just like Taylor-Hopkins. I believe I was the first half of the fight, and I did more then enough to win.”

In Beyer, Sheika will be taking on a tough foe, with a difficult southpaw style, but Sheika sees weaknesses in the champion and believes he can exploit it with will and determination.

“I fought with a broken hand against Eric Lucas, and I thought I beat Lacy. But I am going to win this fight on my terms this time. And when I am champion, I am going to fight all the champions,” stated Sheika.

If all holds true, all the trials and tribulations of Omar Sheika’s career will come full circle on this Saturday. If he manages to pull off a mild upset in Germany, the title winning performance will be the greatest moment of his up and down career.

“Expect an exciting fight. I am going to be trying my hardest definitely and hopefully next time I speak to you. I will be champ.”
