Tszyu has no Timeline for Return
TUE July 19 - Former undisputed jr. welterweight champion Kostya Tszyu released a statement regarding his future. After his June 4th loss to Ricky Hatton in Manchester, England on Showtime, Tszyu said, "Many things have been said and written about my health since the fight with Ricky Hatton in June and I want to assure you all that I am fine."

The 35-year old Tszyu continued, "There have been so many emails and messages of support that I have received from you and I have spent many hours reading them. It has been good to read your comments and suggestions, even from big Ricky Hatton fans who appreciated the fight in Manchester. I thank all of you who sent something to me."

Having only lost for a second time in his great career, Tszyu is taking this loss in stride. "Dealing with a loss is never going to be easy but you have to live on and do normal things in life," Tszyu said. "What is most important for me is my family and I want to set a good example for my children. I am not trying to set an example for everyone else. I just want to be myself."

The big topic at hand is when will Tszyu return to the ring, if ever. Kostya remained tight lipped about his plans.

"Of course, there is one question that I know many people will want to ask, but I am not going to say anything about my future right now. There is still uncertainty in my life and I am happy about this. I have to be positive and that is how I am going to live my life. There is going to be no deadline or timeframe for me to make a decision about my boxing career. My body will tell me when it is time. I have been trusting my gut feeling and my body for a long time and I am 100% positive that one morning I will wake up with the right answer."

IBF Orders Peter-Klitschko for #1
TUE July 19 - Samuel Peter’s manager, Ivalyo Gotzev, is declaring that the “moment of truth has arrived,” for a top contender to step up and face his man, now that the IBF has ordered a box-off between Peter, 24-0, and IBF #4 ranked Wladimir Klitschko, 44-3, to determine its new number-one contender.

This annoucement comes on the heels of last week’s announcement that the WBC has also ordered a box-off between Peter and its top contender Sinan Samil Sam.

“We want to thank both organizations for recognizing Samuel Peter and giving him the opportunity to become their top contender. We’re looking at all options to see who will step up to the plate first. Samuel is ready to fight either guy, so it’s time to put up or shut up.”

Gotzev says that Team Peter is overjoyed with the developments of the past couple weeks.

“This is a great moment in Samuel’s career and the outcome of this is going to determine the future of the heavyweight division. All the hard work is finally paying off. He’s ready for anybody. Now is the moment of truth.”
