Jones Pounds to NABF, Top Tier of Boxing
3/18 - Chicago Cruiserweight Greg Jones battled his way to the NABF Cruiserweight Championship and a top ranking in the world's major sanctioning bodies after An unanimous decision win over a heavily favored Darien Humphrey here last Thursday night.
Jones, a key member of ONE IN A MILLION INC., the Midwest's premiere pro boxing team,
Said after the fight he now has his eyes set on challenging title holders in the IBF, WBC and WBO.
"I've been working hard in the gym and in the ring to earn this title shot, and my team at
ONE IN A MILLION has been working just as hard, so I made the most of it," Jones said.
"Now it's time to continue my mission to be called the top Cruiserweight in the world."
Jones (15-4, 7 KOs) dismantled Humphrey (21-3), of Oklahoma City, for 12 rounds to win
the belt unanimously.
Octavius James, CEO of ONE IN A MILLION INC., declined to comment on Jones' next
fight, saying the new champ will be back in the gym Monday to continue training and
planning his next bout.
"I couldn't be happier for Greg, because I know first-hand how hard he's worked to get this
far, but there are going to be a lot of young guys gunning for him now as champ," James
Said. "The sky's the limit for him, now, and we're going to start choosing our next opponent
as soon as we get back into the gym."
Jones' next public appearance will be at One In A Million's "DATE WITH DESTINY," an
action-
packed card scheduled for Mar. 25 at the Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza in Merrillville, IN.
During a break in the action, Jones will be honored for his achievement.
"Greg's always been popular in the Chicago area, so we know his fans will be excited to see
the new champ," James said. "With this title, the rest of the boxing world will really take
notice and seek him out."
